Can I request an article or book that UH Manoa Library doesn't own?

Answer

Yes, UH Mānoa Library has excellent "interlibrary loan" services between other UH libraries and other external libraries. Below are a few of the options available if you need an article or book that UH libraries don't currently own:

If you are looking at an item record in OneSearch, be sure you are logged in with your UH username. Then, in the "How to Get" section of the OneSearch record, select the appropriate "request" link. For example, "Request Physical Item Not Available at UH Libraries (ILL)" or "Request PDF scan from Item Not Available at UH Libraries (ILL)"

If you want to just use the Interlibrary Loan request form, click on the "ILL" link in the top menu on the library's main website. After you log in, you can request article and chapter scans or you can request to borrow entire books and other physical items. It's easy and there is no cost to you.

If you think the UH Mānoa Library should own a particular book, you can use our Suggest a Purchase form. This form is available in the top menu of the library's main website.
